Pennsylvania State Forests
Allegheny National Forest
Location: In Forest, Warren, Elk, and McKean Counties in northwestern PA
For snowmobile riders, the Allegheny National Forest in Pennsylvania’s Forest County is king. Established in 1923 in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, it is composed of plateau tops with elevations up to approximately 2,300 feet, and valleys down to approximately 1,000 feet above sea level, that make it a snowmobiling paradise. Bald Eagle State Forest
Location: Centre, Clinton, Mifflin, Snyder, and Union Counties in the central PA

Named for the famous Native American Chief, Bald Eagle, the park spans 194,602 acres in the beautiful ridge and valley section of the state, from the limestone-rich Susquehanna Valley in the southeast to the Allegheny Mountains in the northwest.
Forbes State Forest
Location: In the Laurel Highlands, spanning 3,000 square miles of Fayette, Somerset and Westmoreland Counties in southwestern PA
Here you’ll find more than 155 miles of snowmobile trails, including the 120-mile Laurel Highlands Snowmobile Trail System in the north, and 19 miles of great trails in the south, an area which includes Mount Davis, Pennsylvania’s tallest mountain.
Delaware State Forest
Location: Monroe and Pike Counties on the eastern border in northern PA
The snowmobile system here offers a wonderful way to enjoy the stunning landscape of the Pocono Mountains with 70 miles of groomed trails ideal for snowmobile adventures, including more than 23 miles of groomed trails in Promised Land State Park (see below). This system provides trails for both long and short rides through pine forests, along mountain streams and across wide-open fields.
Loyalsok State Forest
Location: Lycoming County, upper eastern quadrant of PA

Chapman State Park
Location: North region, Warren County, 4790 Chapman Dam Rd, Clarendon, PA
Chapman is a trailhead to more than 300 miles of trails in the Allegheny National Forest, along with a seven-acre sledding hill, ice fishing, more than 4 miles of ski trails and an ice-skating pond. Ride the perimeter of Chapman Lake, which takes up 68 acres of this 862-acre Pennsylvania state park.
Greenwood Furnace State Park
Location: South region, Huntingdon County, 15795 Greenwood Rd, Huntingdon, PA
Home of the annual Pennsylvania Polar Plunge, this park serves as a trailhead providing access to 200 miles of roads and trails in the surrounding Rothrock State Forest. The park covers 423 acres of rugged beauty, abundant wildlife and jaw-dropping vistas, and includes a six-acre lake. Snowmobiling trails are marked by orange diamonds.
Moraine State Park
Location: West region, Portersville County, in northwestern PA
With gently rolling hills, lush forests, and sparkling waters the area cannot fully disguise a land formed by continental glaciers and massive mineral extraction. There are 26 miles of trails in the north and west sections of the 16,725-acre park, which is centered around the 225-acre Lake Arthur with its 42 miles of shoreline.
Promised Land State Park
Location: East region, Pike County in northeast PA
Around 3,000 acres, this state park is 1,800 feet above sea level, on the Pocono Plateau, surrounded by Pennsylvania’s Delaware State Forest. 23 miles of designated, groomed snowmobile trails through groves of beech, oak, maple and hemlock trees wind over both state park and state forest lands, and are marked with orange diamonds.
