Buffalo Run offers 68 miles of snowmobile trails created and operated by the DNR with the help of the Michiana Trail Riders Coalition, a group of snowmobile enthusiasts based in South Bend, IN. The trails run mostly north and south, from highway US80 south past Westfield, IN, to Crumstown, IN.
Heritage Snowmobile Trails
Location: Allen County, southeast of Fort Wayne, IN

This 32-mile snowmobile trail was developed by the Hoagland Blizzard Blazers Snowmobile Club, and is generally an elongated north-south loop stretching from Maples, IN, in the north, to Hoagland, IN, at the southern end. The trails can be accessed from two trailheads, one in Monroeville, IN, close to the intersection of Houk and Monroeville Roads, and one just off Hoagland Road in Hoagland, IN. From Hoagland you have the option of traveling east (though there are options to ride north and make a loop or follow your tracks back) or south.
Miami Snowmobile Trail
Location: Elkhart County, southeast of Elkhart, IN, and east of Goshen, IN

Featuring some of the best snowmobile trails in the state, running primarily through rural Indiana, this tract consists of more than 60 miles managed by the Elkhart County Snowmobile Club. The trails run from Millersburg in the south to Bristol, near the Michigan state line, in the north, with several side trails you can take for more snowmobile adventures.
Potawatomi Snowmobile Trail
Location: Northern Steuben County, in the northeastern corner of IN

This route offers 32 miles of trails managed by the Potawatomi Snowmobile Club, which added around 18 miles to the original 14-mile track beginning in 2014, making it an enjoyable 32 miles of snowmobiling today. Mostly fields and woods, the trail traverses western Angola, Steuben County’s 4-H Park, and cuts between Crooked Lake and the Lake James and its related basins, lakes created by the same glaciers that created the Great Lakes. This public trail is not associated with the Indiana DNR.
Salamonie Snowmobile Trails
Location: Wabash and Huntington Counties, along the south side of Salamonie Reservoir

One of Indiana’s best places to go snowmobiling, this area provides 40 miles of snowmobile trails weaving through the 12,000-acre public recreation area that includes a 2,855-acre lake. Managed by the DNR with the help of the Salamonie Trailmasters, these trails run from the Lost Bridge Trailhead on the northern end to the Mount Etna Trailhead on the southern end.
