Allegheny National Forest

For snowmobile riders, the Allegheny National Forest in Pennsylvania’s Forest County is king.

Established in 1923 in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, it is composed of plateau tops with elevations up to approximately 2,300 feet, and valleys down to approximately 1,000 feet above sea level, that make it a snowmobiling paradise. Here you’ll find some of the best snowmobile trails anywhere, with around 365 miles of interconnecting trails, including the beautiful 114-mile Allegheny Snowmobile Loop, the extensive trail system to Allegany State Park, NY, and McKean County with more than 140 miles of trails within its borders. The scenery is spectacular plus, thanks to the high elevations, there is pretty much always plenty of snow.
