Bonnet Carre Spillway

Over 850 acres of fields, marsh, and weedy waste areas, along with some woodlands, make for a 4-wheeler riding paradise for off-roaders.

There are also mud bogs, lots of ‘em, that form easily when it rains. The generally smooth trails make this ideal for beginning ATV riders, but there’s enough diversity to engage all levels of experience. Known as the Bonnet Carre Crevasse when it was built in 1871, the spillway helps control floods and overflows from the Mississippi River and is maintained by the Army Corps of Engineers.
